Pathergy test in Behcet's Disease, relationship to disease symptoms: computer analysis of 391 cases.

Abstract: Patients were divided in 2 groups of positive and negative pathergy test. 57 parameters including symptoms and paraclinical tests were analyzed seperately in the 2 groups and then compared to each other by the chi sqaure test (the fourfold table method). The following symptoms were seen more frequently in patients with a positive pathergy test: oral aphthosis in the beginning of the disease (p<0.01), genital ulcerations (p<0.005), pseudofolliculitis (p<0.0005), arthralgia (p<0.005) and the complete form of the disease according to the Japanese criteria (p<0.001). The following symptoms were seen more frequently in patients with a negative pathergy test: oral aphthosis (p=0.05), ankylosing spondylitis (p<0.0005), epididymitis (p<0.01), and the incomplete form of the disease (p<0.005). The difference between groups seems to be sex related. Full data will be discussed.
